OUR COLLABORATIVE MAGAZINE ABOUT PLANTS AND CULTURE

The students who involved in the "Hidden Duties of Plants" eTwinning project prepared a collaborative magazine. They explored the place of plants in art, literature and music in the culture of Croatia, Spain and Turkey. Thanks to all teachers and students who contributed to the preparation of the magazine.

Plants are not only in nature, in our kitchen, but in every part of our lives as we can not imagine, our culture is almost decorated with plants. In art, history, literature, music… While expressing our love, plants are in our words or in our hands. Plants are with us while expressing our pain. We see floral motifs sometimes in the dowry of a bride, sometimes in the pattern of a carpet, and sometimes in a picture drawn on the water that gives the impression of being enchanted. Henna applied to the hand is an indication of sacrifice. Some plants are the secret of immortality for some, and the protagonist of fairy tales for others. While flowers symbolize hope, innocence and purity in a bride's bouquet, it brings spring to our hearts when they gush out from the ruins of an ancient city. While we think that the flowers are as simple as the patterns of our dress, we witness that the tulip gives its name to a festival. We see plants on the back of the money, also in the pictures of the stamps in our collection. Although they have different meanings in different cultures, different languages and different religions, plants are the common side of humanity.
